I composed this cue at 130 bpm and C Major. For this cue, I had as part my inspiration the 4th movement of Antonín Dvořák’s 9th Symphony, utilizing the minor 2nd intervals from the beginning of the piece, but in order to stay diatonic, instead of utilizing ascending intervals, I opted for descending from the tonic to the leading tone. I think that was the only thing from my piece that I had for a fact wanting to do since before even starting on the composition. From there, I just felt where the music was leading me, and kept composing from there. The strings I currently have are not as punchy as I would have liked for this piece, so I added brass to give the melody more drive from the beginning, and then incorporated the hammered piano for an even heavier punch from the melody. I really enjoyed composing this piece, because of the initial inspiration for it. That symphony is one of my favorite Classical pieces, especially it’s brass sections, and brought me back to my times in the orchestra. I believe that also might have had an influence my heavy use of brass instruments for this piece. I think this cue feels like “Dvořák meets KB” in a sense, as KB uses a bit of brass in some of his songs, and as mentioned before, part of my inspiration for this piece came from Dvořák’s 9th. I look forward to making more compositions in this genre, even if not geared towards them being cues for publishing libraries, but full-length tracks for artists, or even myself if I feel I can write something that can both complement the track, but also be amplified by it.
